I'm in New Jersey so nothing here is cheap! $1600 out the door with a $90 day warranty isn't bad, but that probably doesn't include remove and reinstall. I'd still rather have the 1 year warranty.

My truck has 78,000 miles on it when the trans decided to crap out on me

When I said complete, I mean the whole enchilada, labor included.
That is only if you do not need new internal parts beyond the bands.

Prices do change by region, no question. Let us know what you do and how it turns out.

In my opinion it's not worth it. Better sell and buy a Tundra or some other reliable truck that is still manufactured and has parts available. A total waste of $. Get rid of it and buy a low mileage non lemon H3 or the Toyota Tundra. NO BRAINER !!!!

Rebuild - $1285
R&R - $500
Fluid - $65
HD Pump (13 vane I think) - $299
HD Beast Sun-shell - $90
Upgraded Boost valve - $60
HD 2-4 Band - $25
Trans/transfer case seal -$14

Not sure why you feel the need to make a stupid comment on every thread on this forum. This is why you have been banned from other forums. Did the OP ever ask if he should get rid of his truck? NO. He asked if he got a fair estimate on work to fix his transmission. I'm sure if he wanted to sell it for something else he would not even be posting about rebuilding his transmission. Please give it a rest.

I'm giving the OP my opinion, just like you did, and if you don't like my opinion then this is your problem. And if you feel the need to want to be my father or a totalitarian voice then go join the North Korea forum. We live in America where we have the right to free speech. Back to the topic at hand if the OP must replace his transmission then I would simply sell and buy another Rig.

Have a good night.

Default Protect your Hummer

If your not a mechanic and don't want to work on your hummers and make modifications, I would advise 5 year 100 thousand warranty to cover at least the powertrain. A warranty depending on mileage it is only a couple of grand . (that's the cost of one trannie rebuild) why not have the sense of security you make 1monthly payment and your accepted in. No interest on the rest of your monthly payments. If you sell the hummer you can also transfer insurance with it adding value to the hummer. or you can simply end up like H3ray a bitter guy who's gonna end up old quick eating all those sour grapes
any questions on warranties id be happy to help, and no I do not work for an insurance company but do have 2 policies to cover my investments

Not sure where in NJ you are but I'm in Northern NJ and have good experiences with Denville Transmission. We send all our non-Ford vehicles there for trans work.

My 2006 H3 trans started making noise and slipping out of gear. Wouldn't go over 30mph without acting up. Took it to the shop, they pulled the pan and showed me a some metal shavings in the filter and sludge on the magnet. They said my Trans was fried and I needed rebuild or new trans at about $2500 RB - $3000 New (100,000 mile warranty). After reading through many post on this forum, I had them bolt it back up, took it home and changed filter and fluid myself. I've put 2000 miles on it with no issues. IMHO was well worth the cost of trying new fluid and filter first, before replacing or rebuilding.

All vehicles meaning trucks and cars are NOT investments so why throw money in a vehicle that is 85% broke? The transmission is 85% of the total parts so why throw money away? Better buy another H3 or another Truck. The Tundra is the most reliable truck on the road today. I say sell it. No Brainer.

Do they do any other work besides transmission work? I am in Norther NJ as well and maybe 10-15 minutes from Denville. Just take Green Pond Road over the hills and I am there, actually took my buddy to a shop in Denville when he had his BMW repaired last year. I am starting to think it may have been same place? do they have a small stream running next to it?
