TPMS...HATE IT

RE: TPMS...HATE IT
It's like the boy who cried wolf. Once of these days when I get on the freeway and the TPMS will come on after a few miles, it will really mean that there is a tire going low. Except, I will just keeping driving until the tire goes flat because the damn thing has been going off since I bought the truck. Biggest POS I have ever had on a car. Funny thing is that the 2006 Tacoma I traded in for the H3 had it, and on the TTORA forum there was a post on which wire to cut to supress the damn thing forever. I head this is not possible with the H3 because of the the way it's wired into the BUS.

RE: TPMS...HATE IT
When I upgraded to new after market tires and rims, the dudes at 4WP's told me
they were required by law to install the sensors into the new rims or they could
not mount them on the truck. They would be happy to forgo the swap, but I would have
to mount everything myself........
Someone in governments great idea that has turned into a pain in the *** and the wallet for the rest of us.....

RE: TPMS...HATE IT
I just got new wheels and tires for our 3 day old H3. Within 5 minutes of leaving 4WheelParts, the SERV TPM notice came up. I had to head over to the dealer for something else so I dropped in to service thinking that they needed to be "reset" somehow. According to the dealer, it turns out that one of the units could not be reset...they claim the wheel/tire guys must have broken it....that in many cases they are cracked or otherwise damaged when people reinstall them. At first I figured this was BS, but when I called 4WP, they were quick to say "no problem, we'll get one on order for you so we can replace it." The speed at which they offered tells me this isn't the first time this has happened (although the kid on the phone didn't admit to it happening often).
We'll see what happens....

well,i used to be a tire install expert, and let me tell ya,the easiest way to brake one is to break the bead close to the stem, otherwise the only other way is if the stem is corroded when you take them off,but they are pricey little boogers

RE: TPMS...HATE IT
Dealer said about $70 each. Again, I'm suspicious that this must happen fairly often because they (4WP) seemed totally comfortable with this... they even said they sometimes have the GM units in stock at 4WP for this very reason.... ?! Of course, this was never mentioned before I bought the wheels....
I will say that the Hummer dealer tried selling me an overpriced set of wheels and tires. Would have been $5k for 5 wheels/tires, all 20's. I paid about $3500 aftermarket. However, this type of stuff would be much easier to rectify if I'd done this at the dealer.
Of course, I'm willing to deal with some crap for $1500 !! I've done much more for much less savings.
