Default Towing Issues

I bought a travel trailer to drag along behind my H2 and my only problem is the outside spare tire, which, as most know, hangs on the outside of the rear door. It gets in the way of the crank for the trailer....can't even hook up. I took the tire off and still the bracket is in the way. My option is, remove the outer hardware for my spare and throw the tire in the back...not my first choice...any suggestions? I can't use an extender because then you can only haul 65% of your towing capabilities. My trailer is 4300lbs not loaded, so the 65% would hurt me.
Thanks for any suggestions.

My first thought is electric tongue jack. $79 and problem solved.

After talking to several hitch shops today, I'm inclined to agree with you. Thanks.

If you use a weight distributing or leveling hitch with spring bars you can extend the hitch head back on an extended insert with no hitch weight penalty.

The spring bars are actually "picking up" the back of your tow vehicle and putting more pressure on the front axle. This is how all the big campers are towed.

A good hitch shop should be able to fix you right up.

You do have the factory installed equalizing hitch on the truck, don't you.

If you do not have an equalizing hitch, any hitch shop can put on on. If you do have to get one, get one rated for 10,000 lbs. Then you will never have to worry about your tow load.
