Default Torsion bars on my 03

What is the max inches one can get from a torsion bar crank. I'm aware of the extra wear and tare on steering suspension and wheel bearings. Just curious what anyone thinks the max is. Thanks guys.

Max that anyone should go is 23-1/2" measured from the hub center to the underside of the fender in the wheel well opening.

It's the same height you get from adjusting the torsion bars (for free) or wasting money on leveling "kits", reindexed keys or so called 2" "lifts".

Agreed - the only thing a set of reindexed keys will do is allow you to go even higher but the ride quality is going to suffer either way unless you keep at least a half inch or more of play before you bottom out the upper control arms. Even then though, the downward angle of them is increased and your front shocks are getting closer to their limits.

If you crank them until your upper control arms bottom out it is not only going to be hell on the front end components it is also going to be very unpleasant to drive.

All depends how worn your torsion bars are. Worn torsion bars will not get the same lift with stock keys as they would with re-indexed keys.

When I did my GM green keys recently I found my passenger side to be screwed in farther than the driver side which would lead one to believe the passenger side bar is worn more.

Speaking of brand new torsion bars then yes, reindexed keys are a waste of money but given the fact of how old these rigs are getting, I'd consider new keys a great investment.
