I have a 2008 H3 Alpha.

Original factory tires were 265/75/R16...when I bought it (used), previous owner put 285/75/R16. I replaced those with the same size (285's), brand new BF Goodrich KO2's.

My question is about the proper tire pressure: the sticker says cold tire pressure should be 30PSI, but that was based upon the 265's. With my 285's, what is the correct pressure?

I inflate with Nitrogen, and have been told 35 by some, 30 by others. I've left it at 32 for the last little while.

Max inflation on these tires is 80PSI. Vehicle weight, according to the sticker, is 6000lbs.

If you do not want false tire pressure alarms from your TPMS, then 38PSI all four, cold. Your spare is not monitored (the H3 TPMS can only monitor 4 tires, that would be the four with sensors in them).

I bump my MTZs to 40PSI for any road trips.

 

38 cold tire pressure, with nitrogen fill? That seems high, no?

Why does the sticker say only 32 (I know that's the minimum).

Would there be any difference in ride going from 32 to 38?

 

i run 40 in stock 285s, never rotated in 70000, just put new set on, old ones look even, just started loosing traction in snow.
ill save them,prob put back in my closing days!
