Smile thoughts anyone?

Just got an h3 alpha. I'm jacking it up and I'm considering putting 37" tires on. Do y'all think that will rob to much power/put too mush strain on it? What if I geared it? Or should I go no bigger than 35's? I've always went big with my other trucks but then again this is the first suv I've ever owned. And input would be greatly appreciated!

Unless you change gearing, it will be a dog. Gearing is very limited with the AAM diffs, you basically have the I5 gears to go to, and nobody I am aware of has done it....yet.

What are you intending to do with it? How much are you willing to spend to set it up and then keep it going?

I would guess that a guy with an Alpha as his first SUV and 37s will be breaking all kinds of chit if you intend to get off the pavement, since plenty of experienced off roaders have broken just about everything or another with 35s?

Its been done a few times on GM test vehicles and concepts. Also kflips H3T Alpha was regear with 4.56's by Brodie.

I plan on going with 4:56 gears (locked F&R) in out 08 H3 Alpha (Mr. Blue), also a Daystar body lift+ and 37s over the winter.

I agree with Doc about a first time HUMMER IFS owner and the possible issues that can/will arise with 37s, 4:56s and the skinny pedal mashing mentality. Stick with 315s (35s) and you will be able to get just about anywhere you want.

Sundown: Yep, kflips and a few others have done the 4:56 on an Alpha swap. None that I know of with the 37s. If you have info on the latter PM me!

I should have been "more clearer" I only know of two dudes that ran 37s & stock Alpha gears, one sold his pretty quick and the other is still around somewhere (I haven't seen it in months?) but neither wheeled them ..... so 37s for street looks is what they had.

I look forward to seeing what Taint does, he'll do it right. Might be the next sliced bread thing?

Daystar H3T had 37's and stock Alpha gears and ran EJS in MOAB. I also look forward to seeing what Mutaint does.

This winter will start the swap, body lift and tires, pending a new employer.
