Default Think I solved my rough idle issue.

So we have tons of posts on this topic ... I see guys claim its normal. I see guys frustrated by that answer too . yes some vibration is normal for the unbalanced 5 cylinder design I agree. But I have had issues where I thought the steering wheel would vibrate itself right off the column .Lol .

I scan constantly.... Fuel trims... Intake .... Vacuum... O2 readings.... Never find an issue or CEL . the last month or so, I tried something on a hunch...
my issue was my gas!!! When I used offname discount fuel it started to happen. 1.5 tanks of brand name Fuel its back to the normal minimal vibration. I would have never believed it if I didnt do it myself .
wawa, speed mart, Costco, small name stations caused crazy vibration at idle. Shell, Exxon, she smooths right out . Maybe its a local thing here??? But wow what a difference . Hoping this helps some of you . I know how you feel... Its not normal to watch the steering wheel move so much at a red traffic light . For the last 2 months on my daily driver, the gas has solved the issue. I'm kinda shocked it was so simple and only took me 1.5 years to figure out .😉

Give it 1.5 - 2 tanks to work . I drive her daily, so I go through 2 tanks a week . This heloed me figure it out .

I use Marathon unless I am on the road and need fuel and there is not one near by. My truck runs great all the time.

I have been suggesting that everybody should skip the "snake oil" miracle fuel additives as they are a waste of cabbage. All we need to do is always use quality fuel (some parts of the country call it top tier) and we will not have fuel problems. Buy the cheap stuff to save some pennies here and there, and it comes back to cost you more later.

Cracks me up when people post here that they tried mechanic in a can poured into their fuel tank and they think it got all better. Until that stuff starts turning wrenches, I'll call it wallet cleaner, it evaporates beer money right before your eyes.

Thank you for your real world observation. Really is that simple.

Lol... I did just that too . Tried everything . After going over the topic on prior threads here, I started keeping track of it .
rather pay the extra $.20/gallon and save the snake oil $$
The vibration was so bad at times, yet no CEL or stored codes . I'm a believer . Buy good gas . give it a couple of tanks to work .

In my 2006 H3 there seems to be a sweet spot which is somewhere between full tank and 3 quarter tank where it’s smooth as butter but get to near half or below and I get the vibration. Crazy but I have as of this 91535 miles and I’m the second owner and it’s still going strong however I did have to replace trans and radiator and do the sun roof drain fix and the throttle body cleaning. I’m crossing my fingers the the head problem skipped mine however my vin number falls in the range but so far so good.
