My car is HUMMER H3 2006 model.

I plan to use a copied key after purchasing a car key through Internet.

when I went to the dealer to check my car today, they asked me absolutely not to use the private key.

It is told that private key doesn't include transponderchip inside, it can turn on a car but there happens a problem of not turn on later which costs over $1,000, so they recommend us to use honest good and purchase a separate program.

Is there transponder chip in the HUMMER H3 car key?

When a private key is used, Is there a case of problem on ECU?

 

There is no chip in an H3 key

 

The dealer wants to sell you a key for approx. $30.00
Get one copied at a local hardware store ACE, Tru Value, Lowes, Home Depot etc. for about $4.00

 

No chip in the H3 key.

 

I got my key duplicated at Ace the other day. They check and re-checked. Nope, no chip.

Yep the duplicate key works fine.

No chip in the key. There is a lot of misinformation out there on that. For example the book my local key shop was using said it was chipped as well as the literature with the remote starter. I assured them all that I have had an 06 and 08 and a 10 and none were chipped.
