Question How to programm H3 '08 Transponder Key

After realising GM Australia likes to charge an absolute ridiculous fee for replacing keys, ($400+ for one set key and FOB at Metro Hummer Adelaide), I have decided to get extra keys cut and programmed myself in case I lose them again (well, in case the missus flushes them in an angry rage again!!!!).

I have the spare transponder key blanks computer cut to my VIN, aswell as a working key........I just need to know how to get the H3 to learn the codes from the new Key.

.......before someone says DEALER ONLY, I have read in many places that the '08 H3 model (being the first smart chipped key hummer) can indeed be programmed without dealer intervention (I just cant find how).
- My keys are definitely transponder (despite there being popular belief that H3 keys do not have transponders in them)
- I CAN put it in learn mode by holding the drivers lock button and cycling key on/off/on/off as per instructions to add FOB (the same instructions that are rumored not to work), and have added an additional FOB successfully. the place I purchased the transponder blanks from in Adelaide has no clue how to add keys though as they were relying on info on the web, and the locksmith gurus on the web dont want to part with the info unless I purchase a key from them.

Surely someones had to do this before me????

This is what my dealer just did last week for the new key I had made for my '07 Solstice. I have no idea if Hummer has the same anti-theft system as Pontiac however so be forwarned: http://www.ehow.com/how_5029209_prog...-chip-key.html

The Aussie version is apparently different. I have owned an 06 an 08 and now a 10 H3 and NONE of the keys were chipped. The key shops manual showed a chipped key and the Chevrolet dealer thought is was until I showed them differently. I got my local key shop to cut spares at a cost of about $2.00 each. The dealer charge for fobs are excessive. You can by them on the internet however any you do buy have to be programmed at a dealer. My local Chevrolet dealer progammed mine. Be aware that when you have one programmed, they all have to be done at the same time or the ones not present during programming will not work. I think you are the first to post that got a fob to program without dealer intervention.
