Subwoofer and amp question?? Help
So I want to install 2 12in subs and an amp in my hummer h3 but I have the monsoon subs. I do have a after market hu so can I just connect the new subs to it? Or what do I do
if you have an aftermarket head unit then you should have RCA outputs on the back of that stereo. You'll need an amp wiring kit (power & ground cable, RCA cable, remote amp turn on, inline fuse and speaker wire) and all depending on how powerful of an amp and sub combo you run will decide the wire gauge size.
I would not suggest tapping into the factory sub, especially if you already have an aftermarket head unit. Do you already have the amp and subs? Also, have you ever installed a set up before?
Tips I would give even if you have is replace the battery connectors on your battery when hooking up the power cable and do not skimp on the cables. Purchase qa
quality power, ground, and especially RCA cables, make sure the RCA cables are well shielded, which most quality ones are. H3s are bad enough with getting alternator whine through the stereo in factory condition, so have cheap RCA cables and bad cheap grounds will only add to it. Also run the power cable and the RCA cable on opposite sides of the hummer to aid in reducing any possible whine.

I would also NOT to go the "tapping into the Monsoon" subwoofer way either. The Monsoon amp will not have enough power for your boom-boom 2- 12" sbwoofer needs. Stick with the plan Staggs has for ya. You will be much happier in the long run.
By the way the Monsoon system in your H3 has only 1 subwooofer. It is an 8" with 2ohm dual voice coils.
