Default strong antifreeze smell

thinking about purchasing 07 h3x from local dealership. they let me drive it home overnight for test drive. got home and it had strong antifreeze smell but no leaks found. got up next morning and it would not crank. had them tow back and send to gm shop to look at. is this a serious problem and should i stay away from this vehicle?

who knows?. smell inside, heater, outside radiator. no crank, lites work?, radio? or just no starter?. might be a great h3 with a loose batt cable. leaky rads are popular in h3.
my first used 07 was fabulous, wish i still had it. some are beat to hell off road and ready to fall apart. thats the range youre lookin at in used h3,great or beat up

Proceed with caution, wait to see what they tell you they found to be the problem. Then have them let you drive it again and check it out. Pay a mechanic of your choosing $100+/- to do an inspection for you if you really like it.

Is it a GM dealership or a small private dealership? If it's a small private dealership, I think
I would walk away and look elsewhere

I'd check with Peggy or Tricia

I found the h3 at a suzuki dealerships used car inventory. It was sent to the gm dealership today and they said it was a hairline crack in the bottom of the radiator. They are going to replace the radiator on monday. I was worried that it may have been heater core or head gasket. Im still kind of leary about the whole situation and am not sure if i should purchase it or not.

used car test. i drive 10-20 miles, coast to stop, check 4 hot brakes. let it sit and idle in a clean spot in a parking lot,see what drips/runs out, fluid, oil run it thru gears, get a feel. then if you feel good, pay the pro the 100 bucks!!

the thing that worries me is that it sat in my garage all night when i drove it home and i didn't see anything on floor the next morning. where would the coolant be going if leaking from bottom? im def going to take it to someone for second opinion and to look thru with a fine tooth comb before i write the check.

I had that problem. I could smell antifreeze, but there was never any drip. Coolant level would drop. Ended up being a head gasket. Replaced under warranty. No problem since.
