Default Steering Wheel Off-Center Fix ?

I have a new 2009 H3 and live 4 hours away from my dealer. The steering wheel is turned several degrees counter-clockwise (from center) when going straight. Has anyone corrected this problem by loosening the bolt that connects the steering linkage to the rack and pinion shaft ? If so was it hard to do ?

im a nissan tech, but i do all my own work on my h3. my steering wheel was off a bit too after i put 35s on it. all i had to do was align the vehicle drive it and reset the steering wheel and readjust my toe. id suggest just taking it in to anyone in your area that can align your vehicle for you. maybe cost you you $100. small change right.

Default new?

4 hours is a nice ride in a hummer,, let them do it

actually when i mess with alignment i find that a big pipe wrench is best for the lock nut and tie rod.

loosen both and turn each one THE EXACT # OF TURNS.try 2 turns on yours.

just snug up the nuts, drive a mile and decide , if done, put some arm on the lock nuts.

i changed the cross member, spindles on my 80 mustang and aligned it mysely it tracked and tires wore great.

i had to use those pipe wrenches on the rear arms on my probe gt. 12 years+ rust was hard to crack.

btw its good to have 2-3 foot pipe extensions on the wrenches when needed!!

oh the good old daze

If you have a floor jack, the pipe off of that will give you enough leverage to get any job done.
