not done it. id do some serious reading in the svc manual, its complex stuff in there.
and why do it??

Improper alignment of the steering wheel to the steering column
shaft will cause vehicle damage. In order to prevent vehicle damage, ensure that the steering wheel is properly indexed to the
steering column before tightening the steering wheel nut.

That's the sort of thing that puts this over my ability. I need to change the combination (washer, wiper, cruise, turn etc) switch.

Hi Happy,
I decided to bite the bullet and let a pro mount it for me. Many thanks.

Just like taking the steering wheel off any vehicle. Pop off the air bag horn cover, remove the nut, pull the wheel and pay close attention to how the horn/air bag contact is located against the steering column mast head and how the 3 wire connectors route through. You are supposed to use a steering lock pin (special tool) stuck in the hole in the bottom of the column, but a small punch works like a champ. http://schwarttzy.com/wp-content/upl...eel-Column.pdf
A steering wheel puller can be rented from an auto parts place if you do not have one.

I voiced my concerns out loud and my two bosses, (wife and daughter) both told me to see a professional. Well, they always say that. However, I now am in a no win situation, so I booked the Hummer in to have the combo switch done.
