Is there a schematic for the steering column, I need to find the release to get my key out of IG it is killing my battery. I think i need to change the whole IG out but for now need to get key out.

 

its a mechanical release that was discussed/pictured here ,,,last yr? do a search.

they pulled the lower cover below steering wheel. a small opening,you pushed in a metal pin on the right side. thats all my memory has!

 

oh boy, I'm sure there is a schematic you could find/buy

 

im not sure if it applies to your truck but when the battery is low, and the key is in the IG, the key will not come out until you jump start or charge the battery and get the battery level above a certain charge.

 

forgot to mention, if you have OnStar, they may have locked it as part of their security measure. try calling them if you have it, and they might be able to release it...

 

I have onstar but it is not active. I did charge that battery and still locked out.
