Someone STOLE my backup camera

RE: Someone STOLE my backup camera
I guess I'm trying to not turn this in to the insurance company, they will surely raise my rates with a claim. The Hummer was unlocked, the mirror inside just has a set screw and one snip with the cutters and the mirror is out. The rear camera is in the bumper, so it was an easy nab too. The camera/rearview mirror system wasn't the greatest design considering the small screen that popped out of the riew view mirror, so it's just not worth the cash to me to replace it. I DO however want the temp and compass that is in the mirror, that's why I'm hoping a standard mirror would wire right up and function properly. Any ideas?

RE: Someone STOLE my backup camera
Think of the $$$$$ that you have paid the insurance co. they shouldn't go up on something this small. I would file the claim get the money and if you want put in the standard mirror and then add some "BLING". only way i'd never file is if it didn't meet the deductable.

Ah Hum........hello. Danny.....how many insurance companies do business in GA?????
If, note I said if, you make a claim and they raise your rate (common public misconception to be sure), you cancel after they pay and move on to the next company.
They certainly have no loyalty to you, why would you not make a claim after paying your premiums??? IGNI?

Me Too!- Someone Stoled Mirror With Back-up Display
Did you ever figure this out? We just bought a used 2007 H2 and the same thing
had happened to it. Thieves must know that the rear view mirror with the backup camera display is pricey. I am in the process of trying to put it back together. Will the regular mirror (with temp/compass) fit with the existing wiring? I want to have the backup camera displayed on the navigation screen instead. I have to replace the nav too as it was damaged during the theft. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

They're taking easy to steal OEM upgrades on stock SUV's so it doesn't surprise me.
In Los Angeles, thieves have been breaking into high end SUV's just to steal 3rd row seats to sell on craigslist or ebay. Why steal a stereo that may only be worth 50-100$ when you can grab a seat that you can flip for 400-500$.
It was in the news 2 weeks back, thieves hit large parking lots at shopping centers, Marina Del Rey, and Playa Vista in a few nights. Stole 50-100 seats.
