Someone help me PLEASE!!!
Hi all! First time here. I just bought a Hummer H2 today (2003) and am excited to finally be part of your elite club!
I stopped to get gas a little bit ago and realized that the gas door has a lock!! I was not given a key to such a door, so needless to say I was unable to open it.
The dealership is closed till Monday, and I am on EMPTY! Also, something tells me that these guys are NOT going to have the key for whatever reason.
So her I sit till AT LEAST mMonday, only able to look at and occasionally caress her yellow curves.
Does anyone know if a traditional locksmith can get me in? Think they can make me a key? Also, did this locking door come standard or was it an add on?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Typically they are add-ons. At least mine was. The chrome on mine was coming off really bad so I replaced it. Mine was held on by the edges of several screws on the back of the door frame. They are about $60 ordered from Autozone....but after only one winter...the salt has started the chrome on my new one to corrode. Probably cheap chrome plating.
But anyway, you could always drill out the key hole thus destroying the lock....and just know you will have to buy a new one that will come with 2 keys.
Worst case.

Yes they are all add ons. Many different manufacturers and different types of keys. Chances are you'll need a locksmith to open it up then you can remove it and replace it with your own. Or drill it out as mentioned to get access right away.
They can be anything from the cheapo junk auto part stores locking lids or cost hundreds of dollars and be made of billet aluminum.

If time is truly the issue...........
Then its either call a locksmith or start drilling out the lock!!

Any reputable locksmith should be able to get you in. The two main types of locks that I have seen on those fuel doors are either the round locks like you would see on soda pop machines, or the flat lock that are seen on any door ****. The flat locks are easier to get in to but these are able to be defeated.

Ha Ha

Both cost a lot of money
Hello ElixirLiquid;
I happen to be a locksmith so maybe I can help. Most of the H2's did not have a locking gas cap, but there may be a code on the face of the lock. Does the cylinder look like a round key would fit it. I am sure a local locksmith will not only be able to get you in, but either make you a key or replace the lock for you. I hope this helps.
