get rid of the all terrain tires, andget yourself a good set of super swamper radials (they last about 30000 miles), they are among the best tires for mud, and awesome the snow, i am putting them on my h3 because i love them on my moms h2, they are the same tires that were put on army h1's

dilo2001gt you were right... I thought I had shut down the traction control but I had not... Once I did it went great in the snow... It's a shame the traction control is on default because I fear it is better suited for mud and rocks than it is snow and ice... Thanks all for the help...

The last button on the right after the 4 wheel drive high and low push on it and hold it in for a few section it will shut off and you see in on the dash board the great thing about the h3 you can shut it off any time my 4 runner only could be shut of in 4 wheel

Yes you have to hold it in for 5 seconds... It will report constantly that it is off... If you shut down and start up you'll have to do it again... Make sure it’s in 4 high lock too if you’re running in snow...

I am planning on keeping it as it stands now... The snow ops are huge for me but as long as it does that correctly, the rest of it I have always loved...

It might just me but you guys saying only in 4 wheel ? If I am not mistaken the H3 is all time 4 wheel drive ?!?! perhaps someone could be a bit more specific for someone not so technical with this ? this is my first SUV and I am still new to all the 4x4 terminology

IT is allwheel drive but you have the option to but it in 4 wheeldrive too in a bad snow storms or four wheeling once you do that you get much better traction you have 4 wheel high and 4 low is most likely that all you need only if your going 4 wheeling the low is more powerfull and also shut off the traction controll when you put it in 4wheel you should feel the front tire pulling then you know you got good traction going on.

for roads that have been plowed, i would recommend 4hi lock, with traction control. if you're off on a trail or unplowed road, i would recommend 4lo lock, with the rear elocker engaged, & trac cntrl. you won't go fast, but you'll have better forward traction than any other setting. air down your tires as well, much better grip, unless you like sucking 4 inches of seat material up your backside as you start to slide towards a cliff. turn off the elocker if you're going in reverse though, i learned that on saturday, the hard way. i also learned that the skid plate makes a good snow plow.
