Default Snow Traction...

How is everyone else's snow traction?? Mine is about 1/2 as capable as my old beat up Tacoma... I'm not sure what traction control is supposed to do but mine slides left to right and right to left when starting on snow cover hills...

I had that in my 4runner i hated it i only could shut it off when it was in 4 wheel drive but it the hummer i had know problems could because of the more aggresive tire i have on there then the 4 runner just put it in 4 wheel and shut off the anti traction one good thing you can shut that off anytime not just in 4 wheel in the h3

how did you make out with you remote starter should i get one or wait

I didn't... The remote starter is not going to work right and that is that... They may correct it down the road but it's over for now...

1st snow we had around 9" and I was thrilled. I was hoping for it to slip lol. But I've only had AWD in two other vehicles, an Audi TT roadster and a Talon TSi. Never had ground clearance before!

I could not be more disappointed in my snow capabilities... On the starter, same old/same old... Any glitch at all in the procedure of starting it and it fails to the 22 minute delay... This week I have 2 failures... I have taken it back 3 times now and last time they replaced every component and every foot of wire... We did not hook up the door locks in the hopes we could isolate the problem so I am using the factory remote to lock and unlock and then the viper control for starts only... The first night I tried to start it (as instructed) and it set off the alarm... From then on I unlocked and then started and then locked... The second failure was kinda my fault... I started it but could not hear it running so tried starting it again... That shut it down as it should have but in the H3 it tripped the failsafe and I was out of business for 22 minutes...

It is going back one last time to rehook the viper door locks and then it will be a 3 or 4 day waste of both of our times to wait and watch it fail still.. When it does it's coming out... It does not seem to matter much any more because I need a vehicle that is very capable in the snow and this one simply isn't... The 5900 lbs makes it next to impossible to stop coming down steep snow covered hills and causes it to push way too much through snow covered corners... Both can be managed by going slower but there is no cure for how it defeats the car going up hills... It's so bad that even with traction control it slips extremely side to side going up hills and with all the blizzardous weather I have to drive in (and have had to drive in for years) it is no mystery that this truck borders on incapable on snow and ice... It may be the real deal on rocks and mud but I need something much better on winter roads... As soon as I get the other bugs fixed at the dealer I will be taking a ride down to the Nissan dealer to see about an Xterra trade in... I love the style of the H3 but I just can not sacrifice substance over form...

Thanks for the effort bud but I did all of the above, just to be sure, yesterday... The stabilitrac system is designed to counter spin the 4 tires (i.e. when left front spins, right rear is applied to counter the effect) which is a simplistic and lousy way of doing it... The real problem however is the weight to foot print ratio and it will just never be as capable up hill, down hill or thru corners with a vehicle half the weight with the same foot print... Not on this planet anyway... I would guess the 5900 lbs are an asset on rocks or even off road but on snow or ice it is just plain dangerous... My biggest single reason for buying the Hummer was because I have to get to work every day regardless of weather and this H3 performs about as good in 8" of snow as my Tacoma did in 18" of snow... I simply can't afford to risk so much on style and looks when lacks so much in substance... As soon as my list of warranty items are fixed it is going with me to the Nissan dealer to see and drive the xterra...

My buddy has the the Xterra. I know you need something very snow capable, but the Xterra looks like an old lady's truck. I dont think I would even call it a truck.

I liked the Xterra when I looked at them, I just figured the H3 would be the better of the 2 in the snow... It's not...
