I would like to dump the external rear tire carrier on our new 06 H2, and not carry a spare at all.

Pain to get inside the back hatch with that carrier. Your hands get dirty, the car beside you is in jeopardy from the swing, and your back hatch can contact the carrier if not careful when opening it.

I will not carry a spare, and let GM Assistance rescue me. That's what they deserve for screwing this up.

Question:

1. Does anyone know of a kit that a) plugs the holes in the bumper, and b) relocates the lighted license plate holder to the rear hatch?

2. Alternatively, is there any other clever way to carrythe spare wheel, other than inside the vehicle or on top of a roof rack?

When you take the spare tire carrier off, don't you just put the bolts back in to hold your tow hooks?? or is that just the way we do it on the old ones...

 

There is a tire delete kit that relocates the plate and gives you different hooks. Check out a couple sponsors on here, they all should have them

Thanks for the leads. The old tow loops are part of the tire carrier on the 06, so they need to be replaced.

Took a look at the license plate bezel that is lighted on the pre 06 models. Looks different, and with chrome. Does anyone have GM part numbers for the refit? My local Hummer dealer can't help.....

Also, can NOT find any retrofit kits for the SUV. The only ones I see are for the SUT. Help!
