Default Is this really necessary?

On page 4-31 of the owner's manual, it states:
"After operation in mud or sand, have the brake linings cleaned and checked."
Since we plan to take out H3 on the beach quite a bit, cleaning and checking the brake linings would be quite a nuissance. Do all of you who go off-road really do this?
Also, why do they mention"brake **linings?**"
TIA for any replies.

I always go out of my way to spray a lot of water on the rotors and calipers to keep any major buildup from happening...

I don't take the wheels off.

Invest in a power washer, the literature might be a little dated but you still need to clean your Discs of debris so it doesn't get lodged between the pads and disc causing possible gouges. JMA

or take a few bucks in quarters with you, then stop at a do-it-yourself car wash and just spray off the area. You'll be just fine. It won't cause brake failure by any means, but it's good for brake longevity.

It's in the manual because because of theManufacturer Covering Their A$$ clause. I know Red Necks who have hunted with the same old truck for many years driving in stuff up to their headlights and they do minimal maintenance. Is this ideal for proper care of your truck? NOT! But you get the point. Take care of your machine and it'll take care of you....

Anytime we do anything like that I take it to my nearest car wash that has a underbody pressure washer. It's a good idea to do so.

I systematically take apart, clean, check, and rebuild my brakes after every foray! I hate that when a nice looking gal wants to buyme a cold one and I have to decline because I gotta go home to clean and check my brake linings. [&o]

Even works on the wife:...............sorry honey, I can't wash your car cuz I gotta clean and check the brake linings on the 3 after my trip to Sears, there was some grit in the parking lot, maybe tomorrow?
