ok gents, i had a steering shaft issue, had a new steering shaft installed the noise didn't go away the dealership replaced the whole steering column and steering wheel and i still have a rattle in the column kinda under the plastic cover behind the steering wheel when i hit bumps, sounds awful and drives me frickin nuts! almost want to sell the truck.so sick of this steering issue. can a couple of members do me a favor and post back on this..... make a fist and kinda pound lightly upward on the steering wheel from between your knees if sitting in the seat let me know if you guys also hear a metallic rattle every time you hit it...thanks!!!

 

thinking you should be talking to a couple guys who did the "job" at the dealership!! they own the problem.

 

Pretty common problem with most GM Trucks...it's the "intermediate steering shaft". I'd take it back to the dealer too.

no, but i can assure you after driving 2 h3 almost 3 years,52000 miles,never heard any steering noises,none, not one time,not ever.
your truck has a problem,its not normal for any vehicle to make noises like that.
i dont need to hit my wheel to tell you that when i hit bumps i dont hear strange noises!
