Rally racing looks like a hoot, I would really like to try it some time.[8D] Noisy little Land Rovers.

not quite rally racing, but Team Hummer broke into what was once a rover-only event.

Really, the article writer always mentioned the Hummers in terms of "struggling", and "galliant effort".[:'(]

actually, they invited us to the event, as they had never had hummers enter before. for first time entrants, we placed a respectable 7th out of 9 teams. i had the best time on the inaugural time trial, made it within 10 seconds of the target time, which was worth an extra 900 points to our score. we snapped a brand new 14,000 lb pull pal trying to recover the H1 off the ice, and also blocked access to one of the higher scoring geocache tags (that was our plan all along). the race through the canyon didn't come out quite as well, as I came in 17th out of 18 vehicles.

overall, they never made us feel unwelcome at all, it was quite a good time and we plan on attending the 11th annual event this year with 2 hummer teams.

I'm sure with more experience under your belt you'll do better next time. It still looks like fun, and way to go!

i think we'll plan better next year, or at least stick to the one we start with. both days our original plans went out the window after about 5 miles.
