So my H3 needed a jump this AM when I went to crank it. Was weird because I didn't see anything left on. During the getting a jump process my radio was turning on and off I guess with the key switch, got the car running, but now my radio won't turn on. I can hit the display button and it just shows the time and what cd's are in the cd player. But nothing else works? I checked fuse 13 thats supposed to be for the radio and it wasn't broken, so I have no clue..Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks guys

When my factory monsoon went, I thought it was just a bad battery, Jumped vehicle, drove around, next day wouldn't crank. Replaced battery, two days later wouldn't crank, so I jumped it again. After shutting it back down, I was just sitting there pondering my situation, key off, door open, radio started cycling my cd's, display went wonky.. Pulled (2) fuses to shut it all down, lost a/c in process, and let it sit for a week. Started back up no problem. Plugged fuses back in, wouldn't start next day... Now I have an aftermarket unit, gps, dvd, etc.... No problems, same battery as when I changed it 2 years ago. Good luck, hope you're not in the same boat.

 

short... no surge protector on that factory radio... cheap fix->pull the unit, take it apart, look for the short, solder across the short, reinstall.
