Default radio cutting out. loose battery cable?

So I disconnected the negative cable yesterday to hopefully reset my radio so my xm stations would work again (didn't work), but when I reconnected it, even as tight as I could get the connector I could still wiggle the negative cable back and forth. I didn't drive it until this morning but when I did, the radio would lose power for about 10 seconds then come back on. It did it more frequently when I turned the car off and just had the radio on. Is this caused by the play in the negative cable? If so, how can I get it to tighten up since the nut is as tight as I can get it? I also installed Supersparkz yesterday but I don't think that would be the cause would it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ben

Are your battery connectors the original OEM ones?
If so, they are complete junk.
Replace the ends with a good connector from your local parts store.
The pos & neg posts are different diameters so make sure you get the right replacement connector. They will say if it's for pos or neg terminal.

Yeah, those are the connectors I have, so I guess they're the OEM. I had no idea the terminals were a different size, so I learned something new. So I just cut the negative cables as close to the old connector and clamp on the new one? I hate working around electricity and car batteries so I'll be glad to get this done and hopefully it solves my problem. Thanks for the info!

Cut of the OEM crap, strip back a bit of wire insulation, and install new high quality aftermarket terminals, like Stingers. I would not bother with the auto parts universal stuff either. The audiophile guys use these terminals for their audio competitions, tons of info out their, just pick your brand.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately I bought a universal clamp first thing this morning but I'll swap it out once I get the better ones. I was racing against time to get it done before the rain came. Had about 5 minutes of drizzle before I got it done so I got lucky.
