well,gunner and i were talking about making a rack that basically goes over the spare tire,basically big enough to hold a cooler,so here is the start to that,it is a basket that is 30x18x6,what ya guys think,as soon as i can get the h3 from my ol lady for a day,i will get the rest of it made,but it will basically mount behind the tire and the tire will hold it on,

 

notice the "H" on the sides,the very back will either have HUMMER or H3.,it will look bad azz when its all done

 

it will be similar to something like this when it is all done

Can't wait to see what sort of quick release mounting system you've devised.

It should hold up to anything I planned on putting in it (muddy recovery gear, small cooler, packed out trash, dead meat animals, etc).

While I've seen some with two jerry cans of fuel and a full 64 quart cooler on 'em, I think that's a bit much weight and
would end up warping the door panel (Hell, I worry about what a 33 in Swamper will do). Plus, I like the round stock
much better than the square. Aesthetically, it matches the brush guard, rock rails and a future roof rack much better than
square tubing would have. The only thing I mightlike to be a little different would be the width of the basket. Maybe
36 to 38 inches wide. It's more of a form thing than function thing. It just seems like it should be a couple of inches
wider than the tire it sits above.......Lets see how it looks on your test rig first......Other than that...Looking good Mike.

 

i had thought about that,but i didnt want to make it too wide,,especially for being up in the air,now if it was a receiver mounted basket,then maybe,i guess well just have to wait and see

For the lettering you could justtack a simple plate and then use the letters that fit in the bumper of an H2
