Question on Grille Guard/Nerf Bars for a new Hummer H3
Hello All! I am new to the board and was looking for some advice on a Christmas purchase I am looking to make for my wife.
Recently, we got a great deal on a 2007 H3 in Boulder Grey (it looks beige to me
), with chrome handles, mirrors and front grille. The rest of the bumpers are grey. As a Christmas gift, I would love to buy her the side bars and grille guard for the truck. Being pretty handy, I can install it myself. I spoke with a local company who recommended the following.
For the Nerf Bars, he recommended the Nasta 76-1550's for around $415. These are all stainless steel including the hardware.
For the Grille Guard, he recommended the Westin Sportsman 401925 for around $510 (in black) or the Polar Bear 231170 in Black for around $375. Are these good grille guards? I am wondering if there are any 1 piece grille guards out there in stainless (to match the nerf bars) that are not priced out of the stratosphere? Also, I would love to be able to keep the existing tow hooks on the truck after the guard is installed.
I was doing some research on other brands and found http://huntertruckwholesale.com. They seem to be selling stainless steel grille guards and nerf bars for the H3 for $339 and $219, respectively. Are these too good to be true? Has anyone had any experiences that they can share with me about these products' quality or reputation?
Also, if I go with the stainless/black combination between the nerf bars and grille guard, has anyone seen a hummer having this combo? Does it look funny?
Thanks for the help!
Joe

I don't know anything about the aftermarkets that you are asking about, however my wife's H3 has Chrome Nerf's, Chrome grill and a black Grill Guard. That's what she wanted, said she liked the contrast
I think that it looks alright. It's all personal preference though
I will take a pic and post it when I get home tonight. The only ones that I have on here don't have the guard on it yet.

Do you want stainless or chrome? Chrome is readily available for many of the products, stainless is harder to come by, especially at an affordable price. Do a search and you may find some discussions on it.
I think the black/stainless looks fine, especially when there's already a chrome grill up front. It's standard that the tow hooks go back on after the grill guard and I believe most if not all grill guards come with longer bolts for this purpose.

I would love to get stainless, but the price is too high. Perhaps chrome is the way to go? Can you make any recommendations for an affordable model? Also, has anyone heard of Polar Bear as a product manufacturer? Are their products good quality?
I put a set of rock rails and a brush guard on one of our members H3's.... if he would just post the ****ing pictures....

They look good in black... much better than the chrome if you plan to ever wheel it.... IMO

Latest Update: I traded e-mails with Clarence at gstyle4u.com (he is awesome!) and I am leaning toward the Aries Polished Stainless Steel Step Bars and Polished Stainless Steel Grill Guard. Anyone have anycomments or concerns regarding this selection? [8D]
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
I purchased mine for $279 off ebay and love it. its the tubular stainless one. i thought the oem one looked too much like the grille itself and didnt stand out enough.....
