enough with the squirrels doing it doggy style, let's get back to the question.

it says the plane is "travelling" at takeoff speed - how is that speed measured? is it the speed of the wings through the air, or based on the rotation of the tires? if the plane starts on the conveyor belt and the belt moves in the opposite direction fast enough so that the plane stays in place, then no, it cannot take off. there's no airflow over or under the wings - you've basically got a jet engine blowing hot air from a fixed position. if the plane is in fact "traveling" at takeoff speed, then yes, it can take off since it does have airflow. next time make your question more specific, unless your intent is to quibble over semantics based on the wording of the question . . . .
