Default Problem - rough idle and stall 1st start of day only

so just recently, starting like 3 days ago i have a new problem. This only has happened so far on the first start of the day. When i start it it starts fine, then starts to idle very rough , and loosing rpm, even pushing accelerator, the engine just bogs down and stalls. Then I restart it and it runs fine from then on. This has happened now 3 days in a row. Yesterday when it did this and stalled there was smoke from exhaust and smelled very rich.

any ideas? no check engine light.

to me it sounds like an egr valve stuck open, but if the smell goes away then it might be a clogged exhaust or maybe an O2 sensor is going bad

Soit turns out that cylinder one has an issue could be the rings, they did a compression test at the shop, compression goes down on dry test but stays the same on wet test, so they think bad rings maybe.....and lots of $$$ bummmer.

Crap!!! Mine does the same thing every morning. Gassy smell too for about a minute. I guess I'll just drive the pee out of it until it dies for good.

I doubt its the rings, head maybe. I also have an 06' with over 58k on it and after everything I read about 06's I'm just waiting for my head to go. Anybody here with an 06' without a head issue??? Good luck Branstone keep us posted.......

Yep, I have a 03/06 build..65K..no probs..mind you, dont know if anything has been done on the head while the car was still in the US [ car shipped here in Oct 2010 when I bought it] ...But runs fine now...
I had a stalling problem, turns out coil 1 had water in it and was rusting away inside..
changed that and all is well..dont know where the water came from ?..
all 5 plugs are fine..

The water came from around the fake hood vent. There is a TSB on it. I guess that is a mute point now if you took in in for the recall which glues it down and should therefore seal it pretty well.
