Power Door Lock

I have a 1996 H1 wagon that when locked with the remote or the key locks the doors BUT if you lift the outside door actuator the doors open. Does anybody have and helpful thoughts.

Can you elaborate on your reply, what does 2 rods refer to?

Look at your door latch and you will see the connecting rods.

Door lock locks but pulling on exterior handle opens the door

If I use the remote or a key to lock the H1 doors the door locks all lock but if I pull on the exterior handles the door opens and I could see the door lock button pop up.

Door latch needs attention! Clean/lube or replace.
