A police question

The laws apply to the state the vehicle is registered in.

Illegal lifts for Cali, tint, smog, etc....
What do you mean dawg; you got pulled over in other states for it? Did you get ticketed? Am I just misunderstanding your comments?
Are you tired, run down listless? Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular?

I had Illinois plates (where I orginally am from) and was stationed in California... I was required to obey their laws with smog and stuff like that... I used to get pulled over time and time again in my Ford Ranger because I had stacked blocks that were not welded together...I used to get hassled all the time... It got really old...
I'm assuming when you did get pulled over they had no idea you were stationed in CA, so that wasn't the reason? I guess this would be the prime example since I'm in IL and we take our road trips usually to CA.
I used to get a lot of fix-it tickets/warnings for my tint and such... I had a second set of windows and could change them out in 30-45 minutes to take to the cop shop and get it signed off... I smogged it and it passed well.... so that went away.... I put fender flares on after the 4th time I got pulled over for having 35x18x15 Boggers that stuck past the fenders and that went away.... I bought covers for my 6 KC's the 6th time I got pulled over.... I put a skid plate on it the 3rd time I got pulled over for having a frame 24" off the ground.... I put a set of driving lights on the bumper after I started getting pulled over for having headlights over 36" off the ground.... I never got popped for brake lights which is in the same rule class as the headlights..... etc....
My friend, you may have just solved the mystery as to why the H3 is so low in the front.
There is a law in CA that your headlights cannot be over 36" above the ground? I have to measure mine and see how high they are.
I can't believe they are THAT strict about those kind of things. What's up with the KC lights? You mean to tell me you can't drive around in CA with uncovered off-road lights? It's a regulation that they have to be covered if they are not in use? I guess some lawmakers had nothing better to do to justify their jobs other then make rediculous rules that 99% of the population wouldn't apply to anyway.

What you can do is dependent on the GVWR. If your truck's is 4,500 pounds, the maximum frame height is 27 inches. If the GVWR is 4,501 to 7,500 pounds, it's 30 inches, and for 7,501 - to 10,000-pounders, it's 31 inches. Also keep in mind that the lowest portion of the body floor can't be more than 5 inches above the top of the frame. Tires cannot stick past the fender at all (I think it's just tread, but might be sidewall too.. open to interpretation I think) The front of both front and rear fenders must be as low as the top of the tire, or lower (flatfenders are 'illegal' I guess), and the fender or some extension (mud flap) must come within 20" of the ground.
The front bumper can only be w/in 31" off the ground and the rear 30" (or vice versa, I forget), if you don't have a rear bumper, then the bottom of the body must be withing 30"... etc.
