Also don't forget the advantage of PlastiDip is that it's reversible. Just peal it off.
The matte clear I assume he had done himself or at a paint shop?

In terms of durability over time and washing it holds up really well. They don't recommend taking it through the cloth car washes but any touchless is fine. Also using a pressure washer system works well too. They actually sell a special soap to use with a pressure washer system, it's a spray on foam that you let sit for a few minutes then just rinse off, it gets rid of dirt, brake dust, bird crap, grease, etc. Search on youtube for plastidip myths and you'll find a few videos of them explaining a lot of myths people have about plastidip.

Cost - I bought the "SUV/truck" kit which comes with the spray system and 5 gallons of dip. I also added the full prep kit (3M mask, tape/drapes, microfiber towels, etc) all in all it was about 550. About half of this was the equipment. The actually dip gallons varies depending on what color and finish you want but matte black is cheapest, you can dip a full car for roughly 200$. Now that I have the sprayer system I only need to ever buy a few gallons of a new color, peel off the old and spray on the new!

If anyone is considering it I highly recommend checking out the dipyourcar.com forums, they have TONS of cars with amazing sprays. Many BMW, Audi, Benz, porsche, etc the list goes on. The stuff really is awesome!

I am curious also about the cost total (the dip and the sprayers and everything you needed to do this) because if the total price for doing it with the parts is so much, it might be worth it for me to just have it painted a matte black

still jaw dropping
Yes I have the door jams still yellow, I think it's kinda cool actually but some do spray in the jams as well.

Again on price, for a car you're looking at around 375$ for the entire kit with sprayer system. After that you only need to buy new dip

Looks great. I love matte black and sprayed my old cj in the garage and it turned out awesome. Get tons of compliments everytime I drive it. I used john deer blitz black paint though.

Would love to have a matt black h2 as well. Interested to see how this holds up.
