Gauze or foam air filters always out flow paper, especially when dirty.
You won't get much of anything with spark plug changes?
The H3 actually is one of the few GM trucks w/ adequate brakes right from the factory. I guess more than a decade of criticism about GM truck brakes finally sank in?
I got no idea about the oil filter you reference, but it sounds interesting and I'm gonna look into it.

I plan on getting the Brisk Spark Plugs, I have used NOLOGY Beru Silverstone with good results. Also looking into the Fitch Fuel Catalyst ( Can't Hurt). I just figured putting out the information to help people have choices for there decisions.

Hey Gunny,
I noticd in your 11/21/2007 post that you mentioned 2 distinct oil filters. Do you prefer one over the other. Based on my research, they both appear to be very similar, from the design and function, all the way to the price. Curious to see if others have gone down this path.

TIA,
Jim

On the oil filters those that I noted are good, but further research I found that Canton Oil filters flow well and filter down to 8 microns and they are synthetic material and have two mileage changes/ratings- 10k and 20k. The Filter cannisterruns around 100 bucks and the filters are about 9 bucks.

Can do on the Alpha, I will post it here.

Default RE: Performance Possibilities

Well you ask for it, (Alpha info)I just want to note that I referenced my data from a 2005-5.3L-323 Gen III/IV series family of engines (LS1 based). GM pretty much keeps the commonality on these engines and mostly the changes/differences are electronic and minor sensor positioning changes. I am not familiar with the Newer GM family of engines. So most of this information is from basic reading analysis. Being where I am, I can not get specific verifications. Asking a good GM performance guru to verify my information would be a safe thing to do.
NOTE: I will not be upset or offended if questioned that some of this informaion is incorrect. Thanks

H3 ALPHA info:

Applications: Hummer H3 Alpha
Note: LH8 is the non-AFM version of LH6

The new COMP Cams® XFI™ Truck camshafts for GM Gen III engines are compatible with the factory computer systems and wiring but deliver the best performance when used with upgraded COMP Cams® valve train equipment, including valve springs, retainers and locks. COMP Cams® XFI™ Truck camshafts (PN# 54-450-11 and PN#54-452-11) are built to deliver significant power gains in the mid and upper RPM range. COMP Cams® XFI™ Truck cam (PN# 54-451-11) for 5.3 and 6.0-Liter GM Gen III truck engines produces even larger mid and upper RPM range power but works best on vehicles featuring performance exhaust systems.

"Quick-Lift™" design delivers up to 20 HP! "Quiet-Design" does not trip knock-sensor. Fits under stock rocker covers.
QUICK-LIFT ALUMINUM ROLLER ROCKER ARMS
[color=#0000cc]An easy bolt-on that’s good for 15-20 horsepower gain in LS1/LS6 engines. These highly efficient Crane rockers employ Crane’s unique new “Quick-Lift” design technology that accelerates valve events for more flow and improved performance. By relocating the pushrod seat down and in, Crane engineers have created a “variable ratio” rocker arm that begins with a ratio of about 1.78:1 and converges to a standard 1.7:1
