Default Performance & Lift questions

Hi, I am brand new to this forum and have a few questions regarding my 05 H2. I am wanting to do an exhaust system but need some help picking the right one for me, I have a baby on the way next month and want a system that is not overly loud but has some bark to it. I occasionally do some road trips that are about 12 hours so don't want to have too much drone in the cab either. Also looking to squeeze every bit of extra fuel mileage I can any ideas on some good bolt ons. I have considered doing a little lift like 4 to 6" max I know Rancho, and Skyjacker make a few lifts and Fabtech makes one you have to replace airbags is that correct? Should I go with the Fabtech anyways if so what are the advantages? Has anyone heard of any H2's having roll over problems with the lift kits? Also any pictures of lifted H2's would be great anything from 4-6" lifts.

Muddydawg75 is the man to talk to about lifting H2's. I imagine he'll stop by this thread soon. He has a 6-inch lift on his H2.

Let me go hunt up a picture of his truck for you...

First off.... you can roll any vehicle on any terrain if you are not driving safely. Lifting anything from a ATV to a 8600lb H2 does not change that fact. With that said... My H2 rides better in the corners than my Wife's H2 in a bone stock config.

OK.... what are you going to do with it? Look cool or wheel? Hotrod, Soccer Mom, Daily Drive?

You've bounced back and forth and contridicated yourself.

I added edelbrock shorty headers, no real power added or lost... I didn't shave time of my 0-60.

I added an airdoc also... power was added at the time, and now it's reduced power lost.

I know a lot of people added magnaflow... I didn't and won't because I want my exhaust to have the stock offroad exit that it came from the factory with.

I added 4.88's. That was awesome with 37's.... now that I have 41's.... I want 5.13's. Not because my truck is a slob.... but because I want more mid-range. I'm going uphill on the interstate at 65mph/2000rpm losing the H2 behind me with 37's and a stock 4.10.

Changing airbags with a Fabtech? I don't know what you mean? They offer 2 kits. In the long run.... ditch the airbags, IMHO. They are worthless when you are doing real wheeling. Don't let the guys sell you on the fact that you can get another 2" of departure.... put steel bumpers on and paint them when you get home... Airbags are only good for towing.... PERIOD. I've never not cleanly done an obsticle because I couldn't raise my rear end up.

Jake was nice enough to show you a couple pics of my truck.... I have one more....

Muddydawg, I apologize for jumping around so much. The H2 is a daily driver and is actually my wives and wants to do some nice exterior upgrades. I doubt we will do very much if any wheeling, as far as rolling I am aware that if you drive like an idiot you can roll anything. So as far as tires we would prob stay around 37." What we are looking for is just a nice sounding exhaust system that is not to loud but has some nice bark to it. Also, maybe a lift I think 6" would be max so maybe the 4" Rancho kit. I read on another forum about the replacing the airbags for the Fabtech lift and thought that sounded rather silly. Thanks for all your help.

In that last picture of my truck and Brian's truck is what you want.... he has a 4" Rancho with 37's.... 37's and a programmer will get you a little more pep also... but nothing beats re-gearing...

As for the exhaust... I'm no help.

There are a lot of nice things you can do to the interior. I have the full carbon fiber dash. I also have an Engel refrigerator, seat covers, headrest monitors, and a few other goodies.

Think about what you want interior wise and we can steer you to the right places.

also... with the Rancho Kit, you keep the stock skidplates. The Fabtech replaces the front one... but I'm going to modify that soon.
