Hi Brian SF-GA, thanks for clearing up my paint question. I thought that "Ultra Marine" was another color. So, I could have an Ultra Marine Edition H2 painted Bermuda Blue. Interesting.

Regarding your question, I bought this H2 used and it looked like the previous owner tried to pull it under a loading dock, hood first. The hood was badly scratched. The shop I used pulled the hood, repaired the scratches, many deep enough to gouge the metal and then paint it. Now no one could tell that I had any damage on it. This was a really good job.

It is not that you "could have an Ultra Marine Edition painted Bermuda Blue", but that all Ultra Marine Editions are Bermuda Blue Metallic from the factory. It is part of the Ultra Marine Edition package. I believe the total production number was 750 SUV's & SUT's combined.

It sounds like they matched the paint pretty well and also know that the hood is fiberglass (or some other type of plastic), not metal.

By the way, I noticed your signature ... '13 ZR1 Camaro 'Vert ... pretty awesome. Are you a member of LS1Tech.com? If so look me up, I use the same member name as here. I had been building a 500rwhp/500rwt SS for the last two years. I sold it a few months ago to get a Street Glide .... check it out, you may can appreciate it.

Thanks again for the clarification. So, because my H2 is painted Bermuda Blue, does that make it the Ultra Marine Edition or are some H2's that aren't Ultra Marine Editions also painted Bermuda Blue? If mine is one of 750 manufactured that would be cool. I am not a member of LS1Tech.com but will look into it when I have a bit of time. Sounds like fun to built an SS. I will check it out and be back in touch.

Basically, all Bermuda Blue Metallic H2's were Ultra Marine Editions and all Ultra Marine Editions were Bermuda Blue Metallic ... it was only available in 2008.

In 2009, the limited editions were Silver Ice Metallic and Sedona Metallic (also known as the Black Chrome Limited Edition)

In 2007, the limited editions were Glacier Blue Metallic and Victory Red ...

In 2006, the limited editions were Fusion Orange and Pacific Blue ...

In 2005, the limited edition was the the Victory Red and only available in the SUT ....

In 2004, the limited edition was the Victory Red and only available in the SUV ...

Interesting. I have been talking to an owner around Denver that has a 2009 Silver Ice Metallic with about 38k miles on it. I have seen pics and it is really pretty. I have been toying with selling my 2008 and getting his 2009. He wants about $64k for it but he installed bucket seats in the second row, Rockstar wheels and tires and a bunch of other items. Still seems pretty pricey to me.

First of all, the second row captain chairs were an option in 2009 so I would imagine they were factory installed and $64k is way high in my opinion ... shop that price around. When shopping for mine, there were several low mileage Silver Ice Limited Editions in the low/mid-$50's.

Though not a Silver Ice, I was briefly contemplating a mint, black on Ebony 2009 with 54k miles in Alabama with NAV, air-ride, bluetooth, heated steering wheel and captain chairs for $47k at a dealer. After dealer fees and taxes, it would have been $10k+ more than the Ultra Marine with 40k miles that I ultimately bought.

I think you did well with the Ultra Marine and now that I have one I am thinking less about getting the Silver Ice one. I really do like the Ultra Marine and I get looks and questions about it wherever I go. It just looks good, and is good!

Thanks ... I do love mine, especially coming out of the an '05. I love the '08/'09 newer models. I would like to add the aftermarket bluetooth module for a cell phone and, if I find a decent deal, I wouldn't mind adding the 2nd row captain chairs.

So far, the only trouble I have had was a slightly split radiator (in the seam between the plastic and aluminum) ... split just enough to have the glycol odor, but not drip. A local dealer wanted $950 to replace it, but after researching I found it to be a common problem so they covered it with a $200 co-payment ... I was happy with that since it is not part of the powertrain warranty. My H2 still has three months of powertrain warranty left.

FYI for the future, another issue I had was an "oil substance" all over my driver's side wheel well. I thought for sure it was a split brake hose or caliper leak. My dealer has a "Hummer specialist" and according to him, the front differential breather hose is sized too small. When it heats up, like a trip on the interstate, it will collect in the hose and push out. The fix? He added a larger diameter hose. No problems now.

Well that's sure interesting about the too small brake hose. Millions spent on R&D and the brake hose is sized wrong. I wonder why some vehicle manufacturers go out of business and others have to be bailed out. I will watch for leaks like that. Now I know how to fix it without spending hundreds at a dealer. Fortunately, the only problem I had was fixing and repainting the hood. That cost about $950. Everything else is fine, as far as I know.
