Default OT: Do not open if "P.C."

Just picked up a S&W "Emergency Survival Kit" in 500S&W Magnum. The kit is nice - will be adding a few other items to the box such as a Garmin Rino 130, firestarters and lighter.

HOLY MACKERAL - the torque generated upon touching this off is amazing. Granted it is "relatively light" with it's 2 1/2" barrel but man oh man ...
No pain despite it's massive recoil - well designed grips - feels better than my 7 1/2"Ruger SRH in 454 Cassull.

My dad said, even if I missed a a charging animal, the muzzle blast and sound would certainly send the critter running the other way

We will be hading to the Allegheny Mountains (near Tionesta, PA) on Sunday. H3 Alpha is the rig of choice and hauling a 5x8' U-Haul for the rest of our stuff and hopefully with coolers filled with venison on the way back. Hope to put the 35" Maxxis Bighorns, undercarriage protection and lightbar/grill lights all to good use in the coming week.

We gotta get together sometime soon - this way we can sneak you away next season and the family can blame me for your abscence.

With that stubby barrel, in low light there has to be tons of muzzle flash. I got a pic someplace [&o]?? of my Colt Anaconda 44 mag w/ 6" magnaported barrel barking out a peice of hot lead after dark, it looked wild!!! Bet that thing would be even crazier. Have a great trip and good luck!

See if you could find that photo and either post it or email it to me. This photos are darned hard to take. About 10 years ago, a friend of a friend who claimed to be a "professional photographer" came with us hunting. I brought my 416 Weatherby Magnum with muzzle brake with me just to take a few night-time shots of the muzzle flash. Well, 10 rounds later, he didn't catch a single shot and even though I reload everything, it was getting expensive just throwing lead in the air for no reason.
Yeah, I am sure I'd be seeing stars from the muzzle flash if I fire this at night - might try to do it anyway just to see if I can get a photo - on the last day of the trip. I'd set up the camera with a long exposure but that always exagerates the effect.
