How do you tell the original paint colour. I suspect mine has been painted, behind a few of the panels I see tape lines and the paint underneath is black, and it currently is a pewter color.

Hood is fiberglass and has a numeral marking in it.

I looked but cannot find out how to determine the original paint code. The VIN Chart tells a lot of things but nothing to do with paint. Here are the only colors that were offered for the 2001 H1's:

Ocean Blue Metallic
Bright white
Black gloss
Silver metallic
Candy apple red
Competition yellow
Mesa dusk
Woodland green
Metallic Pewter

get me the last eight digits of the vin number and i can tell you what color it was when it left the plant.

 

Interesting, my Chevelle's VIN #'s tell you their colors but this is the only H1 VIN chart I have seen. What digit tells the color because I'd like to check mine too. Thanks!!
