Synthetic oil does not break down as quick as regular oil. Changing oil in a H3 is a PITA, so who could get pleasure out of that?

Change it every 3K miles and make the oil companies happier.
Currently, I have over 10K on my last oil change and the oil life monitor still shows around 45 percent oil life remaining, as read through a Tech 2. For all those who say the oil life monitoring system cannot be trusted, I ask have you ever had our oil analyzed after an oil change? I have, and the TBN has always been above 4. As for synthetic oil, it is good, but not necessary in this day and age unless the engine requires it.
But, I'm not one to debate, so go for an oil change at 3K, make the oil barons happy. I'll just trust the oil life system, and save my money, and still put on the same miles on the engine.

I love the 3000 mile thing. For years the oil companies come out with better oils and the engine manufactures better engines, but you still need to change it every 3000 miles?

It makes the oil companies happy, but it makes the trees sad.

I'll trust onstar,I seriously doubt that they rigged it so you engine will die 5 miles out of warranty.
