Default One rear light won't come off

Hello greetings from Bulgaria, my dad is a proud owner of Hummer H3, i've taken the car for a few days but the battery goes down because of rear red light left under the rear bumper, it wont come off no matter what i do

Also there is one switch in the front in left of the steering wheel and when i remove it i see that the cables are disconnected, does this have anything to do to the rear light? and can you tell me the correct order to connect the wires

Thanks in advance! Sorry for my english if misspelled some words!

I moved this to the proper section and posted your pics instead of just links. What you have is some kind of add on by the prior owner, that switch and light are not from either factory, so you have to track it down yourself.

Looks like someone did a euro rear fog light retro fit on your rig. Shouldn't those only be on when the marker lights are on?

I would trace ALL of the wiring to the original source and remove it. Tape or heat shrink any wires that were spliced into or cut. If it is a requirement in your country to have such a light redo the light and wiring properly yourself. If you don't have the time or ability. Pay someone competent to do it the right way.

if your country requires a red light under the plate you could just add another switch to kill it,kinda crappy but effective.

if its not required by law I would just pull the bulb or cut the wires.

keep it simple, I cant imagine a red light being required ,ANYWHERE!

You gotta get out more often. The rear fog light has been a requirement in European countries for years. It is also a requirement NOT to run them if the weather is not inclement. Kind of irritating being behind someone at night with a bright fricking red light pointed right at ya!

"European countries such as England, all vehicles are required to have a single rear fog light by law. Specifically, the Office of Public Sector Information of U.K. states that there must be one rear fog lamp located “on the centre-line or off side of the vehicle… A distance of 100 mm between the light-emitting surfaces of the lamps when viewed in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.”

well, well, well, I don't spend much time in Europe,or studying their rules! but I did say,IF, they require a light, IF, then a solution is to add a switch to kill it so it doesn't kill his batt.
I didn't see any other simple suggestions. oh,i get out often but not in Europe!
me,? no I would trace the wiring to figure what someone rigged up and fix it properly but he didn't seem to be that capable and needs a quik ez fix.
he could add a master relay that would unhook the batt on each turn off!

how about an explanation of this,,,
" A distance of 100 mm between the light-emitting surfaces of the lamps when viewed in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.”

leave it up to the brits

Ahhhhh, safety lighting regulations. A bunch of hogwash. lol. No, it is actually very interesting how light is emitted and perceived by people. I understand we need safety regs, but I think it gets to a point where there's too many regs also.
