Oil Change Advisor...
Do you guys go along with the Oil Change Advisor or still change every 3K miles or so? I'm a little nervous at the idea that my oil could potentially last 10K miles. We just hit 2,500 miles today and I'm starting to think about a first change in a few weeks.

Lots and Lots of discussion about that already..Do a search.
But not to make you look..the general opinion is to Change it now first at 2500 to a good synthetic oil..I perfer Castrol Syntec..Others are crazy about Mobil 1...But continue with a regular oil and filter change at anywhere from every 3000 to every 6000 miles depending on how you drive..And yet others will show you documentation that you can go longer between changes with synthetic, but I wouldn't.

There is only one way to know the proper OCI- that is to have a routine oil analysis. Blackstone Labs seems to be the most commonly used for analysis.

This is the only way to really know your OCI. Most folks seem to be like you, they are nervous about such long intervals. As Dennis states, many have done their initial change at 2500-3000 miles then switched to a Synthetic and ran that according to the oil change advisor. I am currently running Mobil 1 filters with Mobil 1 EP oil.
I highly advise everyone to drop by the BITOG Forums. They are the real experts:

There is a ton of information there. Industry experts and geeks like me reside there....
It will also dispell the notion that oil needs to be changed every 3000 miles...

I recommend using the best you can afford. I use K&N oil filters http://www.knfilters.com/default.htm and Royal Purple oil http://www.royalpurple.com/video/video.html. I did alot of research and found these to be the best. Also the K&N oil filter is super easy to remove and install.

its important for the first 10,000 miles that you change the oil often(3,000 mile intervals). With a new engine, there are contaminants in the engine that work there way out during this time. Clean oil yields an efficient engine longer.

I used to use Royal Purple for my '95 Camaro when I had it. I noticed a difference in power. The engine seemed to rev a little easier. It may have just been me, but after I switched, it just felt more responsive. I'll probably try it out again when I move and have my own garage to change my oil in.

HA. Good one there buddy ;-)
I live in an apartment building with 405 units. It has a 7 floor parking garage in the middle of the building. They are kinda snobby there so I don't want to push my luck and change the oil and have someone turn me in. Somebody already reported me for driving too fast in the parking garage, even though i drive about half the speed as everybody else does in there. It's ok for someone with $100k BMW M6 Coupe through the garage like he was racing a rally but the big bad H3 can't do 15 mph without some biotch complaining about it.

I talked with both friends that have been using it and the reps. Everyone has their own opinon just giving you info...... The people that have been using it swear by it. Most don't change there oil for 7000 miles that use RP. Before my engine heat constantly ran between 1/2 and 3/4 (H3). When I switched it runs at 1/2 and below. I thought it was bullcrap when I first heard it would reduce engine heat but it worked. If you go to there Web site you can see videos/reviews of the product. Also my engine smoothed out and seems to rev better. It's kind of hard to explain, but give it a try for one oil change. If you don't like it then at least you tried.
