Post Oh no! Rear differential leak!

So the other day I noticed a relatively dark spot on my rear differential. Upon closer inspection it appears that I have pinion seal leak, argh !

I think I'm going to attempt to replace it myself. I'm aware of the preload torque and stuff. However, does anyone know the size of the pinion nut? I can't find it. I want to make sure I have it before hand.

Pinion Nut Size???

Should be a 1 1/4" socket for the Rear Pinion nut.

very critical torque adjustment. read about it b4 you do it. the nut sets the bearing load, not a simple thing to do.

IIRC, I've read that the torque should be around 12-20 in-lbs. I have to go back and review since there were two measurements for new and old bearings. However, my plan of attack was to simply mark (via paint, or scribe) the pinion, nut, and yoke prior to removal. And perhaps measure the distance between the top (horizontal forward most) of the nut and the end of pinion itself instead of counting threads. Please let me know if my plan is ill conceived. I'm not a professional mechanic by any means, so any feedback is deeply appreciated.
