I started the H2 today and for the first time ever, the info center is blank...
The speedo & tach stay at zero while driving, ....actually ALL the gauges stay at
full "to the left" position.
I tried shutting it off, and starting it back up, but it does the same thing.
Thinking about disconnecting the batt cable, and reconnecting it to see if that
persuades it any.

If this is the problem I think your thinking of: This is a problem with almost all hummers and escalades and probably other GM vehicles that have the same instrument cluster. I believe this is now a recall from GM. Call your dealer, they should replace it for free. If not make a big stink about it. We have had to have at least 5 or 6 instrument clusters replaced on hummers and escalades, in fact we had an escalade replaced by the dealer for free last week, the car was out of warranty, we had to go through GM corporate, it was the 2nd time on this car that it was replaced. And yes it only happens in the cold. The car will be fine all summer, and once its cold then bam it wont work. In fact almost every 03-05 h2 we have owned along with our escalade has had the instrument cluster replaced, its that bad, only in the cold too.

 

Do you think any GM dealer would do it, or does it have to be a Hummer dealer?
....also when you say it's a common prob....does it happen again & again, or
does the recall permanently rectify it?

If it's just a loose wire, I could probably do it myself, if I knew exactly where
to look.

 

Just got a recall notice today on the guages on 2003-2004 speedo and fuel won't work. Take it to your gm dealer for free replacement. Good for 7 years or 110,000 kms. I'm in Canada.
