Default Newbie Considering a Hummer

I have been looking at soo many cars.. uugh I have been trying to decide between a Hummer H3 or an Fj (toyota) I have test driven both and while the hummer seems roomier and offers a sunroof I have not heard too many bad things about them and wanted to know if there are any problems to watch for.. The fj has several you have to look out for.
Has anyone had both vehicles?
I just want to make a smart decision cause I will have it for at least 7 years..
Thanks!!

Hi Stacee:

Here some sage advice. If you're married or have a girlfriend, ask them what they think you should do and then do what they say.

Why?

1. Because; regardless of which vehicle you choose, if you experience automobile related problems down the road, it will never be all your fault.

2. Brownie Points. The kind that make you go to work the next morning with a big stupid smile on your face.

3. Bragging rights and a wife/girlfriend to back up everything your bragging about.

Just don't let her pick out the color!!! That's where a real man draws the line.

A thousand pardons Mrs. Stacee.

I have a buddy named stacy. I just assumed. My bad.

OK; here's what you do. Please refer to my previous post.

And I hope you have a really good sense of humor, otherwise I'll come across looking like a bigger jack-*** than I might actually be.

And Don't Let Him Pick The Color!!! That's where a real lady draws the line.

LOL No Worries!!! Its all good.. I would NEVER let him pick the color I am not insane... he would pick black or white I am more of an orange or yellow kinda girl.. I like to stand out.
He will be lucky to drive it .. But when we did a test drive he had a huge smile the whole time.I really love my broncos but figured its time to get a newer updated rig that I will still feel safe in off roading.
Thanks for replying!

There's been a few members that have owned both and either have gone back to owning a Hummer or regret getting the FJ... not knowing very much about you and your driving habits makes it difficult to just say go and get one... If your gonna take it offroad def. go with the Hummer, the FJs are notorious for frames bending and that's enough for me to stay well clear of them...

The H3 has its short comings, no alot of power, but that's what your Camaro is for Also the back storage area isnt super big, but that's what a H3T is for...

I would urge you to hastily make your decision as, inventories are getting low and there will not be anymore production as far as anyone can tell...

Welcome to the forum, happy Hummer hunting!

I talked with a mechanic friend today and figured that he would give me the pros and cons of both rigs.. He basically said stay away from the FJ they are junk.. well straight to the point I say...lol
So Hummer it is..Now is there anyway to help improve the gas mileage?

put on small tires, bondo all the corners round and disconnect the front drive shaft...

No Stacee the gas mileage is the only downside to owning the most capable factory direct off road vehicle(s) produced... If your getting it for economy its time to start looking at some other POS... its question that has been asked over and over, just be easy on the skinny pedal and enjoy your Hummer...

Welcome Stacee. Most people have reported getting better mileage doing the PCM4Less tune. It is pretty inexpensive and if you pick up even 1 mpg it will pay for itself in short order. My brother had an 06 H3 with the 3.5 I5 motor and he got 20+ mpg on the highway and about 18 mpg overall. In our H3 Alpha we average 15-16 and get 17-18 on the highway.

Sounds good... Where we are moving it will mainly be driven on the highway.. I am only getting 20 Mpg right now so it wont be tha much of a change..I mainly want it for of roading but ya cant blame a girl for seeing if there is a way to get the best of both worlds Thanks for the help!
