Default new wheel options.

Looking at getting new wheels and found a couple of pairs one with a 30 offset and 6 inch backspacing and the other with a 15 offset and 5 backspacing I am going to go with33/35 inch tires what issues can i or will i have with either option. And what should i be more concerned with backspacing or offset. I guess i don't really understand how backspacing effects my choices. I know offset makes the wheel stick out more/less from the hub. Help!

JM4490:

Back side setting or back spacing is the distance from the mounting surface on the back side of the
wheel to the back edge of the wheel, and offset is the distance of that same point measured as the
distance + or - from the center line of the wheel, where + means further inboard, or towards the
center of the vehicle, and - means outboard of the center of the wheel or away from the truck.

The offset can vary depending upon the width of the wheel, even when the backside setting is
the same. Example - you have a 20" X 9" wide wheel with a 5" backside setting and you have a
20" X 12" wheel with a 5" backside setting. The offset is different on each of these wheels even
though the backside setting is the same.

The backside setting of the factory H3 wheel is approximately 5.83" on the 16" X 7.5" wheel.

I hope that's clear.

If not, let me know and i'll provide you exact specs.

Regards, RTC

JM, my rims are a +12 offset 6 backspace, look at my pics to see how much they stick out, I'd say around 2 inches or so. As long as you are staying with an 8" rim you don't have to worry about backspacing as offset is the most important thing with the h3. Just make sure you get a rim with a large bore (center hole) and make sure it is 16" or bigger, 15's will not clear the caliper. Do a search with my name as author, I have listed everything you need to know about this a few times now. Hope this helps
