Default New transmission

I need a new transmission for my auto Hummer H3, year 2008. my local importer has ordered one and charged me 3950 euros inc freight and duty (I live in north Cyprus). But when inspected it is obviously a recon and not new. is this standard practice or can I buy a new one? the VIN is ADMDN13E 074387123. what is the price difference between new and recon?

I would say you can get totally brand new. I myself and new to this Hummer experience. But it's a GMC product. It's all kind of interchangeable. Don't try to look for a Hummer specific transmission look for a transmission (Truck) that is the same or with luck a transmission with a higher tow rating.

The standard practice is to rebuild or re manufacturer a transmission. It varies by who does it, some just replace the failed parts and some replace most everything and include updated parts. Hopefully you have a quality unit that will last a long time. Good luck with the process.

Check out Certified Transmission in Omaha Nebraska, Certified Transmission - Remanufactured and Rebuilt Transmissions or Jasper transmissions.

They produce quality transmissions. I would guess a transmission to be $2500, $500 for not returning the old one. $500 for shipping. But those are just a guess.
