Default New member here..

Just joined as I am looking for a replacement for my '07 Tahoe...really looking into a '08-'09 H2 with the 6.2/6spd combo..anyone make the same switch(tahoe to H2)...my tahoe is slightly modded cai/catback/edge..lifted 2.5" front and 1" rear on 33x12.5's and a 4.10 gear...mileage of course has tanked pretty good..though I can pull 15mpg on the highway and going easy on the skinny pedal.

In my search for a replacement vehicle I have already driven a '09 Tahoe 5.3/6spd(garbage) thing was constantly hunting for a gear..I then made the mistake of taking out a '08 Escalade 6.2/6spd..now were talking that thing moved out..only drawback is the awd system..I tow a sled trailer in the winter and am in situations where I "need" to lock the tansfer case in 4hi or 4lo..unable to do that with the Caddy and the 3.42's really aren't my cup of tea..then I took out a '09 H2...I was quite surprised..this thing had some decent power, never hunted for a gear, and in the same loop got the same mileage as the Tahoe and Escalade...also man o man are the front seats comfortable..much more comfortable than the Caddy seats..the width may have something to do with it as I have very broad shoulders and this seat fit me like a glove. I really like the fact of awd with the option of locking it into 4hi and 4lo..plus the 3.73 gearing is better for towing...so my sales guy(family friend) is searching for me..is there anything I should be looking for as far as problems..wear areas..etc. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you caught the Hummer bug! I drive an 08 H2 SUT and am very impressed. It now has 17k miles and has been solid and dependable. Handles great in the snow. I haven't done any towing yet but, plan to haul my Jeep into the mountains when I get a trailer. I'm not sure how many 08-09 H2 forum members there are but I have not seen any issues reported on these models. Good luck on your search!

Tfhagen, nice CJ...I got a '61 ****** CJ5(plow duty)and a '71 Jeepster Commando(trail duty).

HummBob...glad to hear you like the H2 that much over the Denali...making my decision seem well worth it.

I am the same way..really like my Tahoe, especially how I have it set-up but it does lack some power even with the mods I did to it. I have a 25ft 4 sled enclosed trailer that I wouldn't even think about hitching up and taking out on the road...it has just enough for my 2 sled enclosed, so I think the H2 with its 3/4 ton suspension will be plenty to handle it along with a full load of passengers.

enough talk time to find me a H2...just have to decide on color..thinking Graystone Metallic or Summit White...I have Graystone on the Tahoe and it hides the dirt very well..hmmm.

Thanks! That CJ is my baby. It's been a mod project since 1995... Engine swap, lift, all new interior, wheels, lots of stainless, bumpers, winch, etc. It still has original paint without a speck of rust! Love it.
