Default New LED Headlights .. Need advise for DRL

Hi everyone ..
I just replaced the headlights and the results are amazing.
Couldnt test yet cause forgot to buy the adaptors (coming monday)

NOW the DRL are giving me a headache. The one included are really nice and match but in my opinion way to small . At the same time way too long . A big mod will be needed to fit it .
Is there a way to install it . Something Im missing ?

Could anyone point to the right one .

I rather to match the headlight but not really necessary

Thx

Trying to make this work ..

I cut the oem housing to be used with the new led drl . So far is working great . Only need to fill the gap with some black silicone.

Interesting way to mount them. I had thought about buying a set of these as well but I could never figure out a way to mount them. Any pics of them installed?

I have some that are near identical but was going to go a different route to install them. Been too busy with work though so they have just been sitting in a box for two months...

My thinking was on using some metal straps riveted to the rear fins then fold and rotate to where I can add some bolts to line up with the factory mounting holes. Same thing you faced though is they are about an inch smaller then the factory lights so I was also considering how to fill the gap around the outside. I was thinking on some rubber weather stripping for that part.

I am also planning on rewiring some and making them driving lights (what the ones we are adding really are) and use a factory fog light button to control them. I might add a couple of small stud style LED's for DRL or just leave the DRL wires disconnected as DRL are not really required here anyways. My LED headlights do have a third wire that runs them at a lower power for DRL as well but I did not want to run my headlights 100% of the time to extend their life as much as possible so I'm not going to do that.

It will likely be some time but I was planning on posting when I do mine as well. They are basically the same lights. I did also consider cutting up my stock DRL lights as well and mounting them as you are (and still might).... Looking forward to seeing how they come out. One thing I was also wanting was some amount of adjustability since these are far brighter than the DRL's. As long as left/right is good you could just add washers to the two mounting studs as needed to adjust up/down though.

All done . Came out much much better than anticipates .
Fairy easy . The harder part was to figure out the best way and to remove the lens from the oem housing which was glued.

Here it is how i did it
ONLY THING I WOULD DO DIFFERENT IS REPLACE THE SILICONE BY SOME TYPE OF RUBBER GASKET OR AT LEAST USE A FLAT (NOT Shinny silicone )

Painting the oem housing in black
Cut it , the wider the cut the better fit, careful with the screws area, very fragile .

Drill and add screws to prevent the light moving .

Ilike I said I used silicone but a custom made GASKET will work and looks much better . I'm not to good with silicone but after adding the PIAA grill I can't almost see tge imperfections

Installing was easy as the oem housing was used

Then attached the grill using some heavy duty wire (got it from att fiber csble)
Can't see the wires unless you want too look really close

And final result was nice.. I like the look and how it match with headlight much better than the oem

Nice! The difference between LED headlights and the factory ones is stunning. The factory are pretty much useless junk. Strapping a couple of mag-lights to your hood is about as effective as the stock headlights. lol I know I love the ones I installed on mine.

You are right about the oem , a flashlight is better lol
My Hid were little brighter but these are good enough plus looks great . As I live in a big city I don't need a super bright headlamps. Only when I go to the mountain(Tennessee) need more light and for that I got the monster led roof bar

I can't believe these lights cost only $140 for the whole package

... next to come. EG Fender flares

Thanks for the write up. I desperately want to change my OEM buckets (DRLs) to these type of lamp, but have been looking for ways to mount them. Shame we can't get someone to fabricate a simple bracket which would marry the new light (many of these variants out there) to the oem mounting point. I would pay for that!
