no, here is what its doing...
daytime in auto mode -headlights off, drls on.
nighttime in auto -headlights on, drls off
something aint right..

If the DRL's stay ON when the headlight's comeON in AUTO MODE...This is CORRECT!!!
I just leave mine in AUTO, never actually TURNED MY LIGHTS ON in 4 years???

thanks folks.. OK, I have an issue. I did the DRL mod with the radio shack diode and it isnt working quite like I thought it would. I'll explain... When I turn the headlights on, the drl's go out. If I leave it in "auto", the drl's come on)..when it gets dark, will the drl's continue to stay on if i leave it in "auto"? I hope im describing this correctly.

wooohooo! ended up taking the diode out all together and ran a straight wire..mission accomplished..thanks yall!
next mod.. cb radio. i just need to find a place to mount the damn thing.. any suggestions?

You need the diode in there to prevent backfeeding power the wrong way. Put the diode back in and just make sure it is the right way, You should be good.
Cant help on the CB. Sorry.
