New Head for the H3
I recently beganexperiencing the infamous "check engine" light symptomafter a 1200 mileroad trip. When I took the vehicleinto the dealer, I was informed about the problem with the '06 H3 heads and the fact that myrelativelynew Hummer needed an enginehead replacement. After about 4 days in the shop, I got my H3 back yesterday . I can honestly say thatI'm rather pleased with the way I was treated and the final outcome during this ordeal.

All-in-all, the H3 got a new head, which I'm glad happened sooner rather than later, and the engine warranty on the vehicle got extended, which is good if I decide to keep it for a while. Also, although I can't really confirm it, the new head seems to be a bit more responsive during accelerationsthan the original one.
The dealer stated that thereplacement head was not a re-fabricated one, but rather a new head with a "different part number" than the original. Since they extended the warranty, it to their own disadvantage if they weren't telling the truth (which I really don't believe to be the case).
If you have a similar problem, chill out...GM seems to betaking care of the issue and will replace the head at no expense to you (at least in my case they did).
Best Regards,
FDT

My sentiments exactly! While I was a bit teed off about it and I might add, it is back in the shop as I type, they treat me well and I am driving a fancy black caddy as a loaner (that will haullllllll ***!!!) I am still battling with GM over the extended warranty tho (they gave me a bunch of lip service about giving it to me in the beginning, but I have yet to get the final word and in writing.) I did also ask at this dealershiphow many they have seen thus far and was told they have seen about 15. I plan to hang in there and stand my ground until I am satisfied, but I am "chillin" [8D]and counting the days until I get my baby back and I am not a bit sorry I bought her!
