If you are going offroad, DO NOT install running boards, side steps, nerf bars, etc.
They WILL bend and possibly puncture a tire.
Do like Tainter says and have the GF get used to Rock Rails.

Here's one option: Manufacturers of high quality Nerf Steps, Prerunners, Harley Bars, Light Bars, Replacement Front Bumpers, Rock Rails, Rear Runners, Tire Carriers & Truck Accessories

Here's a better solution, rock sliders with removable steps for wheeling:

Search around the net for pricing, it will be all over the place.
Some vendors have good pricing but high shipping costs. Others have reasonable pricing with reasonable shipping costs.

mini step

bolts on passenger side are ez to get to. you could make a small step just for her and pop it off for off road.
I made one using the frnt brackets from both nerfs. theres another set of bolt holes behind the front ones about half way back.
you could use one bolt in each,,,ez.
