Also, there's a whole lot more info on the Alpha here:
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/27/2...er-295-horses/
including the Press Release straight from GM (that I think wasn't supposed to be released for a few days)...

The password at Hummer.com/facelift is "facelift" by the way if anyone needs it...
But yes, I will be waiting til the bugs are worked out...by the time my lease runs out the V8 will be standard lol

wonder if they have fixed the 5.3L rattle at cold starts
i know mine in the Z-71 sounds like a diesel
for 5 mins after start up every morning
jasper enginessaid its cause by short piston skirts
in their rebuilds the have went with diffrent pistons
to eliminate the cold start noise.
its only on the5.3 the 5.7 or the 4.8 dont rattle
and my 5.3Lgets 14.5 mpg in the Z-71
wonder what its gonna get in the H3

What year was your Z71? Mine was a 2002 and it ran like a swiss watch. Best V8 I ever owned. Lots of ***** towing and the best mileage I ever got- about 13 city but 18.5 and 73mph and over 20 at 60mph. I have heard there was a "piston slap" problem with some 5.3's. Everyone I know did'nt have a problem. It was real hard to trade it in for an H3 with an I5.
The members on this forum helped me make that decision by saying how much they loved their trucks. After 4 pick-ups in a row it was time for a change- so far so good.
I wouldn't worry about the motor in the new Alpha, I'd worry about the overall engineering of the drive train, suspension, weight distrubution, ect. If the GM engineers get it right , it will be a great vehicle.
However,I do have 1 concern. I don't think you'll be able to touch one for under 50K. Maybe much more than that.
I guess for some people on this forum, that's not an issue.
Every vehicle has to evolve, it's a step in the right direction . Looking foward to seeing them on the road.[sm=smiley9.gif]

kild1, it had 62k on it in 5 years, great truck, but it was time for a change. I try not to keep anything for 120k ,I wouldn't expect to keep my H3 that long.[

i sold my yota that i bought new in 93 she had 256k on her when i sold it
i needed a bigger truck is the only reason i got rid of the yota
as far as theZ the slap is the only complaint i have w/ it
i plan on puttin 250k +on the Z if she holds up that long
i drive the old joints and buy the new ones for the wife to ride
we have been married for 6 years and she has had a new PT cruiser, new jeep liberty,
new 06 H3 and now a new 07H3x

Personaly... I can't wait to setmy AZZ In the new H3 Alpha at the Dealers lot late this summer, I'll be the first taking it for a test drive in my area!!! Heh [8D]
As for the price... The H3x goes for $58,000+here in CAN, so I can imagine the Alpha will fetch a good $64,000+ easily!!! Might as well buy an H2
